Kit Digital and Your Website: Where It Stands in 2026

Checked on 28 August 2026 against the BOE, Spain's official gazette, and Red.es itself. A ministerial order published in January 2026 did change the Kit Digital rules, but it opened no application window: as of that date, no call is open for a business to apply for the voucher. Deadlines change, so confirm the current position on the Red.es site before acting on any of this.

What the January 2026 order actually did

The order is Orden TDF/39/2026, of 26 January, published in BOE number 25 and in force from 29 January. It is not a new programme: it amends Orden ETD/1498/2021, the rules that have governed Kit Digital from the start, and it makes three changes.

1. It removes the expiry date. Article 4 now says the rules apply to grants called "until the total exhaustion of the funds of the Kit Digital Programme".
2. It forces leftover budget to be reinvested. A new article 6.3 requires Red.es to reinvest any unspent budget, "even after 2026", within the same investment line.
3. It makes the reserve list compulsory. Where funds are left unassigned after a call is resolved, article 28.8 now requires the administering body to propose awards to applicants refused because the credit had run out. That used to be optional; the preamble now calls it mandatory.

That is the whole of it. Amounts, segments, thresholds and eligibility were left alone, and nothing opened. The preamble talks about allowing the budget to be used for future calls, which is not the same as making one. Only the third change bites today, and only for businesses that already applied and were turned down for lack of credit.

Can anyone apply right now?

No. The convocatorias list on kitdigital.red.es, the Red.es electronic office and its news feed all agree. These were the closing dates:

• Segment I (10 to fewer than 50 employees): 31/12/2024.
• Segment II (3 to fewer than 10): 31/12/2024.
• Segment III (0 to fewer than 3, where a sole trader sits): 31/10/2025 at 11:00.
• Comunidades de bienes, civil partnerships and shared farm holdings: 31/10/2025 at 11:00.
• Segments IV and V (medium-sized firms, up to 249 employees): 30/06/2025 at 11:00.

The only Kit Digital item still open is the register of Agentes Digitalizadores, the approved suppliers. That is a supplier register, not a call for businesses, though plenty of pages present it as the same thing.

You will also find agency blogs saying Kit Digital "is back" in 2026, or that a call opened in May. They contradict all three official sources, and many of those sites are approved suppliers selling the service.

How much it gave towards a website

The amounts per segment come from Orden TDF/435/2024, of 9 May 2024, not from 2026:

• Segment I (10 to fewer than 50 employees): 12,000 euros
• Segment II (3 to fewer than 10): 6,000 euros
• Segment III (0 to fewer than 3): 3,000 euros
• Segment IV (medium-sized, 50 to fewer than 100): 25,000 euros
• Segment V (medium-sized, 100 to fewer than 250): 29,000 euros

Here is the part the adverts skip. The category "Sitio Web y Presencia básica en Internet" is capped at 2,000 euros in the three segments that can use it, not at the voucher value. For segments IV and V the official table shows a dash, so a medium-sized company cannot spend its voucher on a basic website at all. Nobody was ever handing over 12,000 euros for a website: the larger voucher is spread across more than ten solution categories.

Two more things. VAT is not covered, article 19.2 excludes it, so the business pays it on top. And Segment III was not always 3,000 euros: it was 2,000 until May 2024.

What the grant required a website to include

The minimum requirements in Annex IV work as a yardstick for any website quote, call or no call:

• Domain registered for at least twelve months if the business has none, with ownership "entirely with the beneficiary". Yours, not the provider's.
• Hosting for at least twelve months.
• Structure of at least three pages or sections.
• Responsive design, working on every type of device.
• Accessibility to level AA of the WCAG 2.1 guidelines. That is checkable, and most cheap template sites fail it.
• Self-managed: a content management system, so the owner changes their own content without going back to the provider.
• Basic listings: business details and contact information on the main sites and professional directories.
• Basic SEO: keyword analysis, on-page SEO for two pages, indexing and content hierarchy. Note the detail: two pages, not the whole site.
• Multilingual: translated into one language besides Castilian Spanish, if the client asks.

Payment ran in two phases, 70 per cent then 30 per cent, with twelve months of service. If you are comparing quotes for website design, the list still works: domain in your name, a content management system you can use, accessibility.

If you already hold a voucher

Article 29 gives you six months from the award notification to sign the services agreement with your supplier, then three months to build the solution and pay the invoice, and three more to justify it. Miss the first deadline and the right to payment goes with it. For your own file, log in at sede.red.gob.es and read your expediente rather than trusting any article, this one included.

Questions to ask any provider

Ours first, so there is no confusion: Zero Stress Websites is not a registered Agente Digitalizador. We do not process or claim vouchers. We say so plainly because "we will handle your Kit Digital" gets offered by plenty of people not on the register either. Ask anyone who offers it:

• Are you listed on the Agentes Digitalizadores register? Get it in writing and check it yourself.
• Is the domain in my name from day one?
• Do you meet WCAG 2.1 level AA, and how do you demonstrate it?
• What happens in month thirteen, when the twelve months of service end?
• If I leave, do I take the site, the domain and the content with me?

They apply with no grant involved too. A tradesperson comparing websites for plumbers or a firm looking at websites for builders runs the same risk: getting stuck with a provider because the domain was never in their name.

What to do while no call is open

The numbers side by side. A Kit Digital website was 2,000 euros at most, VAT on top, delivered by a registered supplier, and applications have been shut since 31 October 2025. Ours work differently: a setup fee of £150 to £300, then £49 a month covering hosting, changes and support, no lock-in, 30 days notice. Not the same thing, and not meant to be. But one of them is available today, and if a new call does open you are better off already online than sitting on a folder of quotes.

Can I apply for Kit Digital today?

As of 28 August 2026, no: all five calls for beneficiary businesses have already closed. Check kitdigital.red.es yourself before paying anyone to "handle the application".

Did the January 2026 order open a new call?

No. It amended three articles and set no new dates or amounts: it removed the expiry date, required unspent budget to be reinvested, and made it compulsory to go back to applicants refused for lack of credit.

How much does Kit Digital give for a website?

A maximum of 2,000 euros, with VAT paid by the business, and only in segments I, II and III. The larger voucher amounts cover a catalogue of solutions, not the website alone.

Will there be a new call?

There is no official date. The January 2026 order contemplates future calls but commits to none. Any specific date you are given is not coming from an official source.

My application was refused because the credit ran out. Do I have options?

Article 28.8 now obliges the administering body to propose awards to those applicants when funds are left unassigned. We have seen no published resolution applying it, so check your own expediente at sede.red.gob.es.
