The objection

“Clients choose a lawyer on recommendation, not online.”

And the recommendation ends in a search: whoever is given your name looks you up before calling, to see what you handle, whether you are regulated and what other clients say. If nothing comes back, or a site from ten years ago does, the recommendation cools right there.

“Our professional rules do not let us advertise.”

They do, within limits: no promised outcomes, nothing covered by confidentiality, and no clients or cases named without their consent. A site that says what you handle, how you work and what a first consultation costs fits comfortably inside them. You know the rules better than we do; we build to keep well inside them.

“A contact form on the website is a confidentiality risk.”

It is if it asks people to write out their case. Yours asks for what you need to call back: a name, a way to reach them and the area of law, with a note not to send details until you have spoken. The rest belongs in the first consultation.

“We are a small firm. We cannot compete with the big ones on Google.”

Not for "solicitor" on its own. For "probate solicitor" or "unfair dismissal lawyer" with a town after it you can, because that search rewards whoever explains that one matter best. That is why each practice area gets its own page.

Questions

How much does a law firm website cost?

From £49 per month, all in: design, domain, hosting, maintenance and changes such as a new practice area, a lawyer joining or an article. One-off setup runs £150-£300 depending on how many practice areas you want to show. No long contracts.

What does a law firm website have to show?

It depends where you practise. In Spain, the law on information society services asks regulated professions to state their professional body, membership number, qualification and the professional rules that apply. In England and Wales, firms regulated by the SRA have to display its digital badge and publish complaints information, plus prices for some services. We build those in; your regulator has the final word, and this is not legal advice.

Should I put my fees on the site?

For routine matters it usually helps: an uncontested divorce, a simple probate or a straightforward claim can carry a guide price that filters enquiries and builds trust. What people most want to know is whether the first consultation is charged, and how much. If you would rather not give figures, explain how you work them out; that alone answers the question.

Is it safe for clients to contact me through the site?

It is if the form asks for the minimum. Yours asks for a name, a way to reach them and the area of law, and tells them not to include case details until you have spoken: you need to run a conflict check first, and confidential detail is better told in the consultation. Your privacy notice has to describe how your firm handles that data, so you or your adviser sign it off; this is not legal advice.

What about a bad Google review?

Reply, but without confirming the person is a client or saying anything about the matter: confidentiality applies in a public reply too. A short, polite answer that invites them to talk in private protects the firm, and it is what the next client reads.

How long does it take?

Most sites are ready in 1-2 weeks. What usually takes longest is the text for each practice area, because you approve it before it goes live.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Thirty days notice, no exit fees, and the domain is yours to keep.
